The archives of this alternative high school press syndicate (CHIPS) consist primarily of correspondence, financial records, article manuscripts, membership lists, questionnaires, reprints, and a representative sample of student newspapers from around the nation. The focus of the materials is on the issues of draft resistance, racism, women's rights, gay rights, and secondary education. Holds other collections concerning American social/political activism, 1960-1985.

During the 1970s underground high school newspaper editors joined a news syndicate to share information and publications. Eventually CHIPS members published FPS: A MAGAZINE OF YOUNG PEOPLE'S LIBERATION, and supported the Youth Liberation Press, which published books and pamphlets for student organizers.
